Hot Date Tree

Recipes

  • A Bacon Wrapped Date A simple, yet sublime mother of all appetizers! What could be better than a morsel which costs 11 cents, is so easy to prepare, and one of the best tastes that two lips ever laid a lock on! They can be prepped ahead of time and put in a ziplock bag so that they can be ready in a snap! This is the reason for the invention of this device, its namesake so to speak.

    • The first step is to cut 1lb of bacon into equal thirds (normal thickness).
    • Lay each slice out on a flat surface such as a plastic cutting board.
    • Place a pitted date on each slice.
    • Roll Bacon slice around date and stick rounded toothpick through bacon and date.
    • You are now ready to decorate your HOT DATE TREE with your appetizers, stick each one through the hole of your choice until they are all on the device.
    • Now you can put it on a sheet tray in a preheated 360 oven on the lower rack.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes depending on your oven.
    • Remove to serving platter and let your guests devour them!
  • Beer Can Chicken The second purpose for this device is using it as a platform for cooking things like beer can chicken. Other fluids, juices ,apple, orange, etc can be used in place of the beer. This technique gives the bird or whatever you choose to cook on it an internal basting while it is being cooked, leaving you with a very moist and perfectly cooked chicken.
    • With a can opener remove the top of your can,and pour 1/3 of the fluid out.
    • Sprinkle spices of your choice in the can, I like Tonys creole spice.
    • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
    • On a sheet tray place opened can in center, now put the HOT DATE TREE over the can, and then seat the chicken on the point of the "tree". Carefully transfer sheet tray onto the lower rack of preheated oven.
    • Cook for approximately 50 minutes, or until juices in thigh run clear when pierced with a knife.
    • Remove from oven and serve with your favorite vegetables.
